Rapture and Second Coming predictions in the 1800s
The nineteenth century's best-known date predictions were not about a Rapture in the modern pre-tribulation sense. They were about a visible Second Coming, and they came out of the Millerite movement. The pre-tribulation Rapture idea was only beginning to take shape in Britain in the 1830s.
